It is with great excitement that we share the news of the New Orleans Museum of Art’s acquisition of Traveling with the Wind, West by Brie Ruais. Living in New Mexico deepened Ruais' connection to the elements—wind, fire, water, and earth—and inspired a new body of work. The region’s powerful spring winds inspired Ruais to explore finding possibility in resistance, leading her to create work that directly incorporates the power of wind. These recent “Wind Works” allow her to engage in a dynamic dialogue with the environment, where movement and material intertwine in a conversation between control and unpredictability.
